How a marketing strategist ended up running a hosting company - and then sold it.
I started Seeknext in 2000, when "digital marketing" wasn't yet a category and most Indian businesses still treated a website like a brochure. The work was simple to describe and hard to do well: build sites that earn attention, then turn that attention into revenue.
By 2003, half the conversations with clients were about hosting, uptime, and the boring infrastructure that quietly makes or breaks a digital business. So I built HostCats - dedicated servers, domains, 24/7 support - and ran it for nearly two decades alongside the agency.
Somewhere in the middle of all that I started writing. Four books on Amazon, including The Social Media Book: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, about the messy reality of building and operating online businesses in India.
In 2022, HostingRaja acquired HostCats. Going through a real acquisition - diligence, hand-over, transition - changed how I think about every site and every client. Today I work the way an operator works: outcome first, system second, code last.
