Will You Work For Free?
I loved it when I read the book ” Rich Dad Poor Dad”; it touches on many aspects of creating wealth, developing assets, creating a stream(or multiple streams of residual income) and what it really takes to make money.
One of thew things Robert.T.Kiyosaki, the author of the book and a multi-billionaire himself, stresses in the book is the importance of Internship. Many people don’t really grasp the importance of working for free or doing an internship in an industry/company/endeavor/business of their choice for sometime before they actually justify their remuneration.
Look at the students coming off the colleges today or look at the fresh recruits who attend interviews, they come in without any experience or skillss but claim a hefty salary. They think that they are owed jobs and that employment should be taken for granted.
Employees are valuable resources but their value doesn’t come to the fore until displayed, shown or proved. Unless a person can justify their expected remuneration by actually working for free somewhere and performing, he/she doesn’t stand a great chance in securing either a job or a client.
It isn’t just for the employee though. If you look at power attraction marketing techniques like “Free Trail” for instance, you will see some companies giving away their products and services for free (for a limited period of time). If you are small business owner who is confident about your products and services, you can very well build your business volumes up just by giving away free samples or free trails of your service.
It all comes from the same principle Robert.T.Kiyosaki advocates– put service first, money shall follow. Do you put your service first?
