Tight Marketing Plan: Why Business Starts With Marketing

Look at most of the floundering start-ups and you will see that all of them make design, engineering, creative flair or something else that the respective entrepreneur is good at as the basis of founding the company. You will see that often products and services are first thought of and then come the markets.
That’s isn’t a smart approach at all.
You must not start with your skills, creative abilties, expertise in a particular field and engineering competence; instead you must start with marketing.
All the way from zooming into your tight and focused target market to packaging your products and services, marketing plays a central role in your organization. Nothing moves profitably in your company except the cash register and the only way you can make it ring is to bring in more sales.
I loved this write-up on The Power of One-Page Marketing Plan and it drives home the point of focus, providing information and letting the customer decide if the product or service you provide is attractive enough for them to make that purchase.
Whether you are going to spend a bomb on your brochures, marketing collateral, blog or website, saying too much can often confuse, confound or repel your customer off. Instead, stick to basics, keep it simple and talk benefits.
Don’t say too much or too less, always striving to find a balance. A focused, tight, well-prepared marketing message or plan should be the key to your business success.
Do you have a tight marketing plan yet?
