Myth Busting Goes Corporate

psssst….Come here, let me tell you something no one has mentioned but everyone has always seen – There is this typical businessman, an entrepreneur who wishes to make it big in the world of business. Guess what he does now? He opens shop, hires people and waits for people to walk in as if he were just throwing a feast out to a hungry pack of wolves who can’t wait to devour what he has to offer.

Myth 1 : Open shop and they shall come
Reality : They won’t unless you give them a reason to come.

What should you do? – Get real dude. Inform them as to what is so special about your product/service? What? Don’t have anything special? Well, go back to the drawing table and think of one.

Myth 2: Learning is for those MBA types and employees, not for suave business people like us.
Reality : You aren’t living on this planet.

What should you do? Spend each and every available moment to read up, keep yourself updated and perhaps know things much before anyone even considered knowing it. Information is the king. Use it as your primary weapon.

Myth 3: The business has run well for so long. Surely, what my father did was awesome, I just have to live on and run the circus.
Reality : Sure, your father ran it well. Right now, however, your business is a sitting duck and hunters can just pop a bullet through it.

What should you do? So wake up and wake that duck up too.

There are more myths than reality probably plaguing your mind. It is perhaps infested with myriad misconceptions – maybe it is time you sat up and took notice.
