Why bleed and spend thousands of dollars on software when you can get most of it free? As you keep looking around the Internet, you are sure to land on some gems that can get your work done as quickly and efficiently but wouldn’t cost you anything. Some of them are going to be mentioned here, so check them out:
Openoffice.org: One of the best open source projects to have hit the Internet, Openoffice can do everything Microsoft Office can do — only openoffice doesn’t cost a thing while Microsoft office might set you back by a huge sum of money.Most of the netbooks today already come with OpenOffice pre-installed.
Google Docs & Spreadsheets: Go online, hit the cloud and get things done. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world or which computer you are using. Google Docs & spreadsheets not only comes with complete functionality for work like Open Office or Microsoft office, but also allows you to collaborate with yourself ( sync with your blackberry) or with others in your team.
Zoho: We covered a lot about Zoho recently and before you forget about it, it has a way of coming back loud and clear to state that you could use one of their web-based office suites too. Zoho provides Google Docs & Spreadsheet functionality through their Zoho Writer and Zoho Spreadsheets programs.
While you do have to connect to the cloud to get most of the work done, the point here is that the ubiquitous Microsoft office is not the only alternative now-a-days. Have you used any of these suites before? Could you share your experiences?
