A friend of mine owns an graphic designing company and he had just set it up a few days ago. He already has clients he needs to invoice on a regular basis. You do know that a positive cash flow is critical for a business and also it very important to keep track of your expenses, and cash flows while operating your business.
There are a plethora of web-based accounting, invoicing and finance tools available on the Internet and I decided to check out Lessaccounting.com. This post is just a preview overview of what I felt the moment I signed up and even used it with immediate effect.
The best thing I like about the product is that it always seems that the folks behind the project seem to be talking to you on a one-t0-one basis throughout. They do it to the extent that even their instructions are fairly basic, simple and personal; it would all seem like one of your friends guiding you to set up your first invoice or proposal by hand. The personality just comes through.
It was a quick, less than a minute sign-up process and I picked up the free trail of the “free account”. You have to set-up a username (business name) if you have a name for your business and you are done signing up. (Lessaccounting.com automatically gives a url like (http://yourusername.lessaccountting.com) for your ease.
Once you sign-in, you have a simple to use navigation panel on the top (horizontally across) and the process from then on is intuitive. In case you need help, lessaccounting has plenty of tutorials to help you.
I created my first invoice on my friend’s behalf in a minute or so. You will need time to get used to their formatting though since you don’t have a WYSIWYG editor there. You will have to use HTML tags while formatting and I am not sure if we can add a company logo to the header yet. I will keep you posted on it.
Once the invoice is created, it can be sent as an email – as just an email or as a PDF document. You would automatically get a copy of that invoice to your email and it also gets saved as a note on your dashboard.
There is a lot more to lessaccounting than what it appears to be and I guess I will take some time to figure out what else lurks there under the hood.
Lessaccounting isn’t just an invoicing software – you have expense watch, time tracking, bank account synchronization and much more. It has been a good experience with them so far. Let’s see what else it has got.
I will keep you updated. Meanwhile, did any of you use lessaccounting.com already? ?
