Everyone and their neighbor wants to make money online but they think they can approach it the way their approach their job finding activity – like print out a resume and shoot it out all over the place while waiting for the job offers to come your way ( in fact, this lazy approach won’t work for jobs too). To earn money online, your education is redundant and your 5/10/10/20 years of experience working as whatever in a string of jobs won’t help too. Here’s is what it takes to make it big:

  1. You need a major attitude overhaul: Even before you read the rest of the article, you will need a major overhaul. Working online or doing business online isn’t very different from doing the same thing off line. May be the costs are low and the leverage is high, but that’s it. The amount of hard work it takes and the kind of sweat and blood you will suffer through is just the same. Don’t let the world “Online business” fool you. Working from home isn’t vacationing; it is working even harder than a normal employees who gets paid whether they work or takes a leave.
  2. You got to have skills: There is no denying that providing your services online is the quickest and the fastest way to earn money online. The key here is “skills”. You got to be able to deliver articles, e-books, white-papers by writing or be able to design really good looking sites or be a maestro in graphics.  You must at least be able to do mundane and repetitive jobs in “administration and support” category like answer customers’ emails, data-entry. All of these projects above will need you to have skills. No skills? No Money. Period.
  3. You need to be focused and consistent: Trouble with the Internet is that there are just too many sources of information and too much of it floating around enough to drown you in a sea of confusion. The trick that could help you combat this is a bullish focus on just one mode of earning money online and sticking to it until you really grow that to a full-fledged, monthly income which can pay bills or even more. It calls for tremendous amounts of focus and consistency.
  4. You need to learn constantly and quickly: Nothing remains constant on the Internet and that would mean that no matter what you are doing on the Internet, it is bound to change very quickly. New tools come into the market, technology is constantly changing the face of the Internet and for every one way of doing things online, there must be at least 5 ways to do it better. Doing business online then calls for a quick, able mind and the ability to learn constantly.

When you do business online, you are forever on a learning curve. The rewards of this kind of learning are priceless. What do you think?
