Human Behavior: Why Should You Care?

Businesses aren’t about buildings, plant, machinery and vehicles. It isn’t even about technology or great ideas. Businesses are all about people.
People start businesses; people run businesses and they make great things happen.Ask any business owner what the most important resources are and they would say people and time. Having the right people in your business and working together cohesively towards a common goal are the biggest secret some of the most successful companies have. That drives me to the next point.
Since it is all about people, human behavior is a must for you to understand. As a small business owner and team leader or manager, it is important that you get an insight into people behavior. You know what it takes to motivate or manage people. It would be so easy to get people to do whatever you want them to do if you understood what ticks them.
No amount of authority, money or competence in your part can make people work without liking you at all. They will work with you only when they like you and you must do everything in your power to do what is required.
All of this doesn’t mean you take a course on psychology. Just observe people, pay attention to their body language, try to understand why they do what they do, read books if that helps to clarify your thoughts.
