Focusing solely on your own business and the market and then working towards improving your business is a great idea and very beneficial but if you do it in isolation then it’s almost pointless. You need to keep a keen eye on your competitors and take tthem into consideration every time to plan to revamp your marketing plans etc.You need to first analyse your company’s strong points from 3 different perspectives, your own, your employee’s and your customer’s.You can use the following questions to help with the analysis :
1) What clear advantage does your company have over others in the market?
2) Why does your loyal customer base stay loyal and support you?In other words why do they like or prefer to work with you over others?
3) What is your best business aspect? Is it the product or service you offer?Your customer service functions?
4) What is your USP?what do you offer that the rest in the market do not?
Now tally the 3 analysis that you have.If you have the same answers for these questions from all perspectives then you know now that it your primary strength. The ones that do not tally need to be worked on.Now take your strengths and compare them with the strengths of your competitors.Remember to be objective,it is crucial that you do not under or over estimate them.Your marketing plan and corporate culture should be built around these findings and strengths of yours.
