Expansion or growth of a business is not important just to increase your income but also to simply keep your business alive. Stagnation is death. One of the best ways to work towards expansion of your business is to diversify it. Diversification can help you create an empire that specializes in a certain kind of product or service and thus labels your business as a ‘wholesome’ one. The easiest ways to diversify are:

1) Explore related areas: Whatever your business area is, try to get into the related areas as well. This gives you an all rounded experience in your field and helps build your reputation as an ‘expert’ in it too. For instance, if you have a photo printing business try to diversify into photo framing, art frames etc.

2)Set up your own labs, workshops etc. :  If you have a business, and you outsource some part of the production aspect  to someone else, stop doing that and instead set up your own workshop, lab etc. and do the job. It works out more economical in the long run and you have greater creative freedom and control over your product.

3)Complementary products and services : Stock up complementary products and services and sell them along with your own products etc.Try to install a strong marketing tactic; offer discounts or attractive packages with these complementary products and watch your sales sky rocket.

The above three are the easiest ways to diversify. Diversification helps to increase turnover and sales. However one of biggest advantages of business diversification is infact, an intangible one. When the customers identify as a business that offers a product and related ones, It automatically communicates that you know about your product, related ones and hence this field. It establishes you as an ‘expert’.It helps to strengthen your reputation. A business’s reputation is crucial to it’s survival and success. It is important as it helps to develop and maintain a relationship with your customers and to attract new ones.
