As per mozilla, a release candidate for 3.5 will be issued on friday and the final version will be out by the end of the month allowing two weeks for the final bugs to be fixed.

An early Look at firefox 3.5 depicts that Google chrome and Apple safari are still the browsers to beat when it comes to speed.
Ultimately, Firefox 3.5 looks like it goes a long way to reclaiming its crown as the browser to beat in the face of stiff competition from Chrome and Safari. While the new Firefox isn’t quite as fast as the aforementioned, it is of comparable speed, and offers agenda-setting features – and customisability that the other two have a long, long way to go to catch up.

I installed RC1 today, and while I didn’t ran any javascript benchmarks, I tried some demos and various webpages and I’m just not seeing anything noticeable in 3.0 vs 3.5, despite all the claims Mozilla made. Mind you, I’m going by eye and memory, but Safari and Chrome are obviously faster. I’m very disappointed in 3.5, I didn’t expect a silver bullet, but I expected enough of a difference so that it was visibly faster.
