Fernando Alonso, last year’s overall champion won the Malaysian Grand Prix this year. He led from the beginning and won the race with a superlative performance. Hamilton went on to secure the second position.
Kimi Raikkonen, the winner at Melbourne, seemed unhappy with his performance at the prize distribution ceremony. Things have not worked in his favor since he switched from Mclaren to Ferrari this year. He is not able to weave the magic that Michael Schumacher could do for Ferrari. Schumacher was exceptional in taking risks. He had the ability to set the race track on fire with his scintillating performances. With his retirement from active racing last year, there seems to be no replacements. Kimi showed his lack of killer instinct in the closing stages being unable to overtake Hamilton. But Lewis Hamilton, the rookie Englishman, again showed a lot of promise and took the second spot behind Alonso. He exhibited his prowess by maintaining his second position in spite of kimi raikkonen’s repeated efforts to overtake him. Hamilton kept his cool even though Raikkonen came quite close to outpacing him towards the end. Alonso had a wonderful day and led throughout the race. He showed glimpses of his form last year when he even out raced the great Michael Schumacher. This year too, he has a good chance of becoming the overall Formula One champion. But he will be definitely challenged by Raikkonen and Hamilton.
