On March 30, I boarded the 1 pm Spice Jet flight at the Bangalore Airport and flew to Delhi. I was received at the Airport by Vaibhav Kakkar, one of the organizers of the SEO Meet. We then proceeded towards my hotel which was located at a 2-hour drive away from the Airport. Amit Patel, Raghunath, Sunny Bajaj, and Ramakrishna had reached the hotel a couple of hours earlier and it was a pleasure meeting them there. I kept my luggage at the hotel, freshened myself up and in 15 minutes’ time, was on my way to the Clarks Inn Hotel, the venue of the Symposium. The organizers were busy setting up the conference hall and I was there for around two hours. Then I came back to my Hotel and relaxed. I went to bed early that evening as I had to wake up early and attend the SEO meet the following morning.
On the morning of the meet, I woke up at 7 am and reached the venue at 9 am sharp. The Symposium began on the scheduled time with a brief introduction given by one of the organizers. This was followed by the welcoming ceremony of the Chief Guests Mr. Andy Hagans, and Mr. Rich McIver.
The speakers at the event included Mr. Manish Pandey, Mr. Rich McIver, Mr. Andy Hagans, Sagar D, Vaibhav Kakkar, and Ravish Ahuja.
Manish Pandey’s presentation was informative as it included the basics of SEO. He also spoke at length about important SEO topics such as Important Factors for Search Engines, Anatomy of Hyperlinks, and Link Baiting etc.
At 11 am, Mr. Rich McIver gave an excellent presentation which included topics such as Link building basics, Quality Links, What to avoid, Link Baiting etc.
This was followed by a talk by link bait specialist Mr. Andy Hagans who started with link building examples. He also spoke about other topics such as Top hit list for link baiting, Old fashioned Link Begging, and Submitting to book marking sites etc. He also emphasized the importance of content in a website.
This was followed by lunch.
At 2:30, Mr. Sagar D from BizNicheMedia gave his presentation on general points on SEO including information on how search engines work.
Immediately after this, Mr. Vaibhav Kakkar, one of the organizers, gave his presentation on the topic “building your online empire” with an innovative concept called Virtual Real Estate (VRA).
At 4 pm, Mr. Ravish Ahuja spoke about the use of forums and how to convert visitors to users.
Then there was a group discussion session where the participants were given the opportunity to discuss issues related to SEO.
After this there was a grand Ghazal Night which kept the participants enthralled. This was followed by a cocktail party, where drinks and snacks were provided. The party continued till 11 pm and everyone enjoyed it. The most entertaining part of the party was Andy and Rich dancing to the tunes of a few popular Hindi numbers.
Next day, 1st April, 2007, we were invited to Mr.Pankaj Gupta’s house for lunch. It was a buffet lunch and the food was delicious. It was a well organized lunch invitation and we were overwhelmed by the hospitality of the hosts and enjoyed every minute of our stay there. Then we went to Mr. Saurabh’s farm house located in the outskirts of the City. Mr. Saurabh is Pankaj’s brother-in-law. We all had a wonderful time at the farm house and will remember the pool party for some time to come.
The next day we went to Vaibhav kakkar’s residence at Gurgaon and had a delectable breakfast. The food was again really delicious and I really have started developing a soft corner for spicy and tasty North Indian dishes like paratha’s, paneer makhani, dal makhani, Aloo Gobi etc. I will definitely try out some more North Indian delicacies when I get the opportunity. I was totally overwhelmed by the warm hospitality that I experienced from Vaibhav and his family. After breakfast, we headed towards Vaibhav’s office, spent a few minutes and then rushed to Airport to board my return flight to Bangalore.
Overall, I think the Delhi SEO Meet was a well organized event and I am already looking forward to the next meet in 2008.
