When it comes to the list of those medical conditions where patients have to feel a severe pain, then kidney stones will surely come in the list. It is quite depressing to know that kidney stones are one of the most common problems pertaining to urinary tract.

Before going any further about the treatment and symptoms of kidney stones, it is essential to know a little more about urinary tract. Urinary tract, basically, consists of kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. It is quite obvious that kidneys play the important role to purify blood by removing wastes in the form of urine. Furthermore, kidneys are responsible to form red blood cells for which they produce certain hormones. Urinary tract starts from kidneys and ends at urethra which is used to throw wastes out of the body in the form of urine.

Now, as you my have grasped the role of kidneys, you will surely understand the way stones get formed in kidneys. Actually, kidney stones are the crystals that get formed because of calcium. As you know that calcium along with phosphate and oxalate is essential for bones and muscles and you take it on regular basis, so, it is easy for stones to get formed because of the availability of calcium. However, it is pertinent to mention that urine come with a special chemical that don’t let stones to build in urinary tract. But, it is not similar for everyone and that’s why there are lots of people are who are facing this problem.

Before getting on to treatment, it is worth mentioning that there are different types of kidney stones that get formed because of different reasons. For instance, apart from calcium stones, you can witness stones that are formed because of urinary infection. Also, uric acid stones can also be found in some people. However, it is also imperative to mention that there are lots of people who may have smaller stones, but, they don’t notice it as they can easily get out with urine through urethra.

When it comes to treatment, you will first have to determine the types of stones that may be causing discomfort. In the beginning, you can deal with kidney stones by limiting the food containing the substance that may be forming kidney stones. For instance, if you are having stones of calcium oxalate, you will have to reduce the foods and drinks containing oxalate. This will involve leaving those foods which come with greater value of oxalate. However, medium-oxalate foods can be taken in lesser quantity after consulting with your doctor. When you will reduce the intake of oxalate, it will directly impact the kidney stones. So, you must go for certain tests to find out the type of your kidney stones as this will not only help to treat them in an effective way, but, it will help you to stay away from them in future by taking precautionary measures.

Dealing with kidney stones can be a difficult thing. But, if you will be willing to change your lifestyle by switching to more particular diet, you will surely be able to handle things well. Always remember that a change in lifestyle is the only thing that can save you from surgical treatment.
