Cloud Computing As a Scalable Business Solution

cloud computing 300x211 Cloud Computing As a Scalable Business SolutionCloud computing has become the new buzzword for startups and larger corporates alike.
With Companies like Microsoft offering services like Azure and Amazon with its own ‘elastic’ service EC2, there are many services just waiting to be tapped into.

What is cloud computing?

Cloud computing is essentially, the ability to have a computing capability that provides an abstraction between the computing resource and its underlying technical architecture. What that means, simply is that all facility and infrastructure management that was required to be managed ‘in-house’ can now be outsourced to a different provider. The server/hardware support that would have required extensive technical know how can now be managed by a different entity. For your business, this means you can use this as a service rather than having to natively be able to support and manage it.

What are the advantages of cloud computing?

Scalability:

Whatever the size of your business, cloud computing fits into your model because it is service based.Additionally, businesses can scale operations very easily based on requirement. If you need new servers because the number of hits to your website has increased, then you can easily do so. If you need to get rid of the extra servers, you can do that easily as well

You pay for what you use:

Because you are only paying for services you use, it is a very sensible solution for business financially as well. You pay for exactly the services that you need, no more, no less. Since customer demand is usually elastic, you can tailor your architecture to provide for exactly what is needed. For cash strapped small businesses, I cannot see a better solution than this.

Underlying technical architecture as a service:

Because the underlying architecture is a service, you don’t need to train manpower, manage the system architecture and deal with maintenance and technical support, leaving you time to focus on what’s important: your core business. By having less to do with dealing with all the underlying architecture support, your business will be easier to manage.
