Before You Set Up Business; please put up Assertiveness Inc
Every now and then, a wannabe entrepreneur comes along who wishes to start a business of his/her own. That is probably the biggest decision of their lives and still the approach they take to it is more or less like deciding which movie to watch on one fine Friday evening.
Before you look to start a business, you must first prepare to be assertive; not aggressive and not submissive, but assertive. Here is the difference if you didn’t know what these terms mean.
Aggressive: Bull-dozing your way through in a rash and despicable manner, usually ending up in torn relationships, bruises and altercations.
Submissive: Letting people walk all over you as if you were a doormat and not even realizing the miserable condition you are in.
Assertive: Acting like a broken-record and repeating what you want until you get whatever it was that you wanted. You don’t bull-doze, show fists and crack skulls. But you still remain firm, polite and bullish in a polite way. Not leaving until you get what you want.
That assertiveness is a remarkable trait to have. It gets you things easily, allows you to forge forward with nothing but bullish determination in your mind and allows you get business much more easily.
Don’t think of starting a business (of doing anything for that matter) if you cannot be assertive. Worse yet, don’t ever be submissive. Submissive people end up where dirt ends up; aggressive ones end up with cuts and bruises and it is only the assertive ones who stay in one piece and get a lot of things done.
