workathome 300x224 Are You Proud Of Being a Work At Home Entrepreneur? One bleak Monday morning, you will wake up only to see that everyone around you is in the “rush hour mode”, getting up, getting dressed and hurrying as if the earth is going to split into two in the next few seconds. They have a place to go to. You will either be amused or be sad that you don’t get to do all that since you are a work at home entrepreneur. You work from home and you avoid the dreaded 60 minute commute. Here are reasons why you should be proud of what you do:

  1. You are living the damn dream: It is everyone’s dream to be able to make as much money as they want sitting right there in the living room. Not everyone gets around doing it and it isn’t easy — It is certainly tougher than getting a job and pretending to work for say a decade or two, get your raise, be promoted and keep making money.
  2. You save at least 5 hours compared to anyone else: Let’s assume that you spend about 1.5 hours to commute to work and just another 1.5 hours or a little more to get back. On top of that you have a lunch break which meaningless stretches into an hour while you just need 15-20 minutes to eat. You then have those hundred little breaks that you take for tea, random cooler room chats, or to smoke. I put it at a safe estimation of about 5 solid hours lost each day. If I am an entrepreneur making $30 an hour, that is a whopping loss of $150 a day.
  3. You save on overheads: No offices, no fancy equipment, no sleek laptops and nothing else to worry about. Everything happens from home. If the business needs employees and if the work required can be done on the computer, it can be virtually outsourced. If you still need people to do something off line for you, well hire part-time help from students or others looking for work. But can you imagine the kind of money you save just by the virtue of the fact that you work from home?
  4. You have a better life: Since you are at home, your kids enjoy better proximity and closeness to you than what it could have been otherwise. Working from home allows you to take off whenever you want, relax and watch TV if you want to (it’s stupid if you do it though) and have a better work/life balance. Bring that flexibility into picture and see how rosy it all looks.
  5. You spend less on almost everything: There is no commute so there are no huge fuel bills; you communicate with clients using Skype and the Internet and so there are no phone bills (not much). Your expenses on almost everything are reduced considerably.

If you aren’t proud of being a home based entrepreneur, you got to be doing something else like getting your self a job. Could you think any more advantages of being a home based entrepreneur?
