Search engine optimization is a fast-moving, dynamic, and constantly changing science and hence it requires you to be on your toes, more often than not. There is just too much information floating on the Internet and it is difficult for anyone new to the Internet or new to setting up and running websites to get hold of the very basics.
Here are some specific tips you must try.
1. Place the primary keyword in your title tag once. Ensure that it makes sense and is in accord with the title. It would be even better if you can use it twice but do this with because it might just make your title look and feel like spam. The keyword should ideally be at the beginning of the title.
2. The primary keyword along with your secondary keywords should appear in your first paragraph. Needless to say, the focus is still on the primary keyword and not as much on the secondary keywords. You may include an incidence of your keyword in the H1 tag too.
3. The primary keyword should appear 3 times in the body of your article and must be included in a sub-title which is emboldened. Use the <b> and </b> HTML tags or use the WYSWYG editor if you use one to make your sub-tiles bold. Remember that there is no marked increase in the possibility of search engines finding you easier just because you sprinkle your article with more than enough keywords.
4. Don’t forget to use your primary keyword in the alt text attribute while uploading any images for your articles or while uploading images on your blogs. This is a nice way to bring in additional traffic through image searches being conducted each day.
5. Point to various articles or posts within your website whenever it makes sense using the proper anchor text in links. The more you link to yourself, the more importance each of these pages take as far as Google is concerned and also allows your readers to gain access to many of those articles that would have otherwise been drowned in the daily avalanche of new posts or articles being published each day.
