4 Immediate Steps To Grow Your Followers On Twitter

twitter2 300x180 4 Immediate Steps To Grow Your Followers On Twitter Twitter, twitter, what do you have for me today? Nothing but more and more people joining in. I assume that you are already on Twitter but you could be in one of these categories: Did not join, joined but don’t know what to do, well on your way to power tweeting. Why not get to the third category immediately? Possible if you follow these steps:

  1. Forget promoting; just talk: Don’t even think of promoting any of your products and services while you are out there trying to grow your follower count. Selflessness is awarded on twitter so go about asking your followers to follow others and help build your network. Spread the good word, spread links and spread love – all without anyone asking for it.
  2. Inform and educate: Entrepreneurs must read. So read everyday and share what you read with your followers. Do remember to keep your reading focused. For instance, if you wish to share information on business and technology as I do, you must do just that and nothing more. It simply means that you keep your tweets very general (show a little personality) or you talk about business and technology (or whatever your niche is).
  3. Do as tweeple do: You see, twitter is like a little town and there is a town hall at the centre of the town. Also, there is a language that is used in this town. English will do, but if you can speak “Twittish”, it would be great and you will be appreciated. Learn the basics of this language; use hashtags(#), ask questions, Retweet(RT), thank people, answer others’ questions and much more. That’s how life is in Twitterville – are you living?
  4. Make friends consistently: Don’t just yap away on twitter; no one likes a chatter box. You got to respond to others and show that you are listening actively. You must initiate conversations and build rapport. If you aren’t doing that, twitter won’t work for you.

Tell me, has Twitter worked for you? Do you feel good being a part of this community you made for yourself on Twitter? Let me know about your experiences.

Oh yes, while we are on the topic. Do follow me on Twitter @abdulvasi
