3 Solid Reasons Small Business Owner Should Be Proud

I remember thinking about the decision I made a long time ago to be on my own; be the hero of capitalism. I don’t know what my thoughts were exactly and it is all a blur, but I do know that there was a never-ending, stormy debate about what’s best for me and I did know that whatever decision I make, it might just change my life forever.
I did, decided. Here I am.
I was, nevertheless, thinking about the repercussions of my decision. It’s not about the money; it’s got more to do with my self-worth now. It has everything to do with responsibility and accountability.
It is, in a nutshell, life changing.
I think that entrepreneurs are blessed souls and there are plenty of reasons as to why they should do what they are doing. If you are thinking about it sitting on a bean bag or while fighting for some self-respect and oxygen in that soul-depressing cubicle hole, here’s some help coming your way:
- Business teaches you more than business: When you wear your shining amour and go out there into the raging battle, you are no longer a little kid who needs momma to feed and a boss to supervise. Kids have no place in battle and business. You would learn more from just one day in business than you would manage to rack up for an entire year doing what you were told to do in your job. That’s because when you are in business, you don’t just do this and that; you basically do everything and beyond.
- Entrepreneurs have to survive: Competition is one thing, survival in the wild is something else. Employees just have to compete and get a raise or a promotion. Go to work, do as you were instructed and climb that ladder. This won’t happen in business. There is no more promotion for you because you are at the top already. You will have to tear yourself apart just to stay alive and float above the turbulent waters. So you see, when you finally hang your shoes up, you will be proud that you at least tried to survive while most others get by with ready-made oxygen masks.
- Entrepreneurs are wealth creators: Everyone sucks wealth; entrepreneurs make wealth. We are all consumers; entrepreneurs produce. We consume, they create. Honestly, which side would you like to be on? I choose the producer side because it is a matter of immense pride for me to do something meaningful for myself and others. I would like to wake up each morning and say “ Now, this is why I want to live”. I want to make a difference; being an entrepreneur helps me do that.
I think that these three reasons above are the best of the reasons why I do what I do. Why do you want to do it?
