working from homeWorking from home is a dream for many cubicle stuck people around the world but it isn’t as much a dream anymore for those who are already living it; it’s a reality. Now that you are in it, you will not feel ecstatic about it at all. Reality dawns on you and you begin too realize that it isn’t a cake-walk like you thought it might be. It might not even be the best idea. Here’s why I think you shouldn’t work from home:

It kills productivity: I do admit that you save a lot of money, effort and time by not doing the regular 60-120 minute commute, but there is a lot more you will lose by staying at home. You will be tempted to take too many power naps, have people showing up at your door too often and eat more than you should. You will even tend to work long, unproductive stretches of time which isn’t good for any one at all.

It makes you isolated: I don’t know about you, but I am a very social person. I would love to meet people, make new contacts and develop relationships everywhere. Working from home takes it all away from me. It keeps me isolated from the rest of the world. It can be very lonely working from home and if you are like me, this is the last thing you want.

An office is a must: I often advocated the need to have as few overheads as possible. I also despised an office initially when I first started out. Eventually, I realized that an office really helps in boosting productivity. The conditions are such that you are stripped off all your usual distractions like TV and newspapers, beds and pillows, etc.Offices are ergonomically designed which allows you to work even better, faster and more efficiently.
