We are very funny, if you looked at it this way. We aim to make it big in the world of business, we set them up after much ado, run them and operate them, market our businesses effectively and even sustain multiple shocks, ups and downs along the way. We do all this so as to make profits. We make profits when we sell products or services. There was a nice time, once upon a time, when we make products and they are simply purchased. That’s it. Economy grew, nations grew.
The elements are the same now, except that the customer who simply used to purchase anything and everything is suddenly well-informed. He chooses among multiple vendors, he is more discerning than ever and is the ultimate king in the whole transaction chain. So we do understand that he is the guy we must be reverent to. The funny part is that we still don’t get it, do we?
We are very rude when it comes to approaching customers, we don’t give much importance to their problems, we talk to them as if we are doing them a favour and we think we are smart just because we did manage to sell them something. Selling them once and in a way that hurt them, would hurt you in the end.
Customers are money. You abuse them, you abuse money and you don’t need a leather bound business bible to tell you that. Your being rude doesn’t do you any good and is the worst business decision you’d ever make.
While your competition is going out on a limb and for that extra mile when it comes to customer service, you haven’t even thought about it yet. Time to wake up, and take notice.
