Most of the entrepreneurs would have faced a problem of setting their prices right, getting their terms and conditions across, stipulate their own terms, calling their own shots and having their own way. The way they give up everything to their clients is a negation of what they had set out to become in the first place.

if it was too high-brow to be understood, think of this way - You had become an entrepreneur or a self-employed professional only because you wanted to escape the corporate sledge-hammers and peculiar rules, the need to stick to protocol and do things as THEY say. If you did break those shackles and are on your own, you would be so used to letting others have their way that your clients will now start calling the shots. How so, you might ask ?

They set the prices, they set the deadlines, they decide on the veracity, the beauty or the competency of your work and they pay you ultimately. Is that any different from what you used to do earlier. Some clients are even rude. There is a way out, once you had decided to make the jump.

learn to say “SO?” and of course, the all time favorite “NO”. Here is the essence of it all :

Client : We are usually throughout the week, can you meet us on a Sunday?
You : NO, I am sorry, I don’t work Sundays.
Client : Are you sure?
You : Yes, I am.
Client : Another thing just flashed by, Don’t you think your prices are way too high?
You : I understand they are. But you get what you pay for ! ( This is the SO? case)
Client : We’ll get back to you.
You : Sure, anytime.

Getting it? Man, I love that spunk. You got to have this to make a mark. You Will be doomed if you had to listen to every client who pays you peanuts and expect you to work like a dog.
